Go-Go is having a bad season. His batting average has been below .200 since May 11, he's spent time on the disabled list, and there was a spat earlier in which Gomez accused a columnist of not cleaning up his second-language quotes in order to ridicule him. (The editor of the Houston Chronicle apologized and said the paper would review its policy on quotes.)

I don't know to what degree Gomez' problems are related to his injury. If he's sound, I would expect him to get it going. He's a talented athlete with a record of success and he's only 30.

But it sure has been a prolonged slump.
