This is his third appearance in the majors and in all of them he shows a nice fastball and an inability to reliability throw anything else for strikes. His fastball isn't good enough to get by on that alone. Which tends to be why he is matched up against certain hitters and then removed before he can do too much damage. Until he learns or gains confidence in at least one secondary pitch, he probably won't be an effective big league pitcher.<br /><br />He probably needs to do that at AAA. Actually that is the problem. None of the backend of the bullpen or the current cast at AAA are really any more than filler. They aren't going to be dominate big league relievers, though I suppose you can get by with them till something better comes along.Jim Hnoreply@blogger.com
